Commercial Drivers Licence
Over 20 years ago I used to hold a commercial licence with which I earned some extra dollars during slower months with little work. I let the licence slip, but decided to renew it now at Elizabethtown Community Technical College. A neat guy called Jason is in the same group as me, and I thought it would be fun to put him on the Internet. Let his kids see him with a truck on which he trains. My Neighbors
It was an absolutely beautiful afternoon. I had been working outside, getting ready for the arrival of 14 trees that would need to be planted in the next couple of days. The sun was shining and hilighting the fall colours all around here. I had taken a few photographs, and so with my camera handy I decided to take a snapshot of a neighboring family. Their first child is still only weeks old. |

| No sooner had I taken that picture and a nother neighboring family, (somewhat larger) came by on their "all terrain vehicle"
I should explain that we all live on a small County "No Through" road, which means that we have no traffic other than those living here. |

There are some beautiful homes around here. One of them is situated behind our house, on the other side of a 5 acre lake. I enjoy photographing it from different angles and in different seasons. Here is my latest effort. |

| This was Saturday morning. Bill, the owner of the Rineyville Grill was still in bed, so he didn't get to be in this picture. They're all a great bunch of guys, full of helpful information. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Gloria, my wife, is pretty squeamish when it comes to insects and such. Kentucky seems to abound in a large variety, most of which we never saw in California or England. This critter was sitting on the mailbox, and seemed to enjoy being photographed. See a larger copy here. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I needed to have my truck lettered as quickly as possible. David, pictured above, (squinting in the bright sunlight), went above and beyond what I expected.
I know he worked late into the evening so that he could put the lettering on the truck first thing the next morning. And he did all that for a very competitive price. I'm extremely grateful to David and I would highly recommend his service to anyone else. Thank you David. |

The friendliness of local folk.
Moving from California to Elizabethtown, Kentucky, one of the outstanding differences is the way people treat one another. Gloria, my wife, came home today after viting the Wallmart Superstore in town. She had to get a prescription, and she was amazed at the friendliness of the two assistants that served her in the pharmacy. I found the same when I had to visit another, all be it smaller and privately owned, pharmacy. Even though it was just a single prescription there, they cared enough to send me a form seeking my comments on their service. What a difference it makes to ones day when people are so civil. A rather large watermelon. They call him Elroy. He's a regular on the liars table at the Grill in Rineyville. I like visiting the place in the morning hours because the locals there can fill me in on so much local gossip and genuine helpful information. When I first arrived here in E-Town, I'd never seen a tobacco plant. Elroy invited me to see his crop that he was about to "top". This was a few weeks ago. So I went out to his farm and he showed me his acre of tobacco. It was a real eye opener for me. |

| Sitting in the Grill this morning, I heard talk about folks guessing the weight of things. I got to find out that Elroy had a couple of water melons in his truck bed. I went out to take a look, and sure enough there were two huge melons that weighed over 60 pounds each. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
